How To Build Muscle If You Are A Vegetarian
Posted on 04. Oct, 2009 by Ricardo d Argence.
Many people who are considering being vegetarian are worried that they won’t be able to build muscle if they do so. Before we talk about whether or not you can build muscle as a vegetarian, though, let’s talk about what the different types of vegetarianism are.
A vegan is someone who doesn’t eat animal products, including meat, fish, dairy products, eggs, and so on. A pesco vegetarian is someone who eats fish and other dairy products, but doesn’t eat red meat or poultry. Lacto-ovo vegetarians eat eggs and dairy, but don’t eat meat or fish. There are other types as well, but these descriptions will suffice for this article.
Because of the nature of the food vegetarians do not eat, things like red meat and so on they have a lower risk of certain diseases including but not limited to hypertension, coronary artery disease, a variety of cancers and diabetes mellitus.
If you’re thinking about become a vegetarian, congratulations. The reasons are certainly compelling, not the least of which is that it’s easier on the environment, produces more food for less, and helps lessen practices of animal cruelty.
However, a lot of people who want to become vegetarian are worried that they aren’t going to get enough protein to become very muscular. In reality, though, soy is a perfect food to do just that, given that it has more protein than beef and has all eight essential amino acids in abundance.
You can easily get soy from such sources as soymilk, tofu, and textured soy protein. However, as long as you consume enough calories in the forms of good foods like seeds, rice, beans, nuts, legumes, and vegetables, you should get enough protein, plenty to build a lot of muscle.
Alright so that is protein dealt with but what about vitamins and minerals, particularly zinc, vitamin D, calcium, iron and vitamin B12? Well, supplements should be taken by vegans for this.
Vitamin B12 is found in dairy products so is not an area of concern for other types of vegetarians. The others can easily be gotten from a decent meal replacement powder. Of course however many minerals and vitamins are easily available in the form of leafy green vegetables and fruit that you should not overlook if you wish to build muscle up vegetarian style.
In short, there are lots of reasons as to why it’s beneficial for you to become a vegetarian, and you won’t have to give up your bodybuilding goals to do so. Of course, as a bodybuilder, you are going to need to plan what you eat, too, but that’s true of people who eat meat as well. With these few pointers in mind, go ahead and engage in bodybuilding as a vegetarian, successfully.

Moms and Dads and HCG
Posted on 04. Oct, 2009 by Amelia Handley.
There are many adults that suffer from obesity; too many adults, actually. The numbers have been high (and rising) for decades. While Americans admit that obesity is a costly issue that leads to a shortened life span and lower quality of life we seem to be accommodating it by ignoring the need for change. And the adults aren’t the only ones that are being hit with the consequences. American children also have unarguably high percentages of obesity.
Things are very different than they were 50 years ago…or even 15 years ago. Kids are eating things out of boxes and plastic wraps far more often than they’re eating anything fresh. Kids are feeding themselves rather than enjoying a home cooked meal made from scratch from fresh ingredients. And when our kids are in charge of preparing their own meals…it’s no surprise that the majority will reach for a boxed meal rather than learning to whip up something healthy for their dinner.
Kids are also cooped up inside a lot more than ever before. Many don’t have the opportunity to go outside. They live in the city with little to no access to outdoor recreational facilities. Others might have the opportunity to be outside, but aren’t allowed for safety reasons; and who can argue against a parent who isn’t comfortable letting their kid roam free considering everything we see on the evening news?
So it’s no surprise that the obesity issue is growing amongst the children in today’s society. Many parents find themselves at a loss as their children are at school for lunch and in some cases breakfast, so the only meal that is fully controlled by the family is dinner. And even then…making healthy meals takes more time and effort than many quick and simple dishes that are high in fat and low in nutrition.
HCG Diet Direct management suggests that their dieters set a good example for their children. They should share their healthy food choices with their kids instead of eating healthy, but providing their families with the quick and easy (and usually high fat) meals that they are used to. Other family members can enjoy the same foods dieters are eating (they just need to be provided with larger servings). Family members can also enjoy a wider variety of food choices in comparison to the dieter’s strictly regulated choices; the benefits are numerous for dieter and family members alike.
Incorporating HCG approved foods into the family’s meal time means that you can eat together as a family and studies indicate that this provides a wide array of benefits from increasing kids’ chances of excelling in school to increasing the probability that your kid will say no to smoking. It will also provide the opportunity for parents to set an example for their kids by eating healthy foods. And it teaches kids to be comfortable eating healthy foods. They’ll get accustomed to seeing it at meal time and will eventually learn to incorporate it into their diets on their own. So parents can feel comfortable knowing that when kids are out and about they know how to eat healthy and just might do it.

HCG Approved Foods:
Posted on 04. Oct, 2009 by Clint Westfall.
Popular homeopathic HCG weight loss programs are all the rage. They help people lose weight. They also re-introduce healthy foods into the lives of dieters and teach dieters how to prepare healthy foods using low fat preparation methods. Successful HCG dieters typically walk away with a new love of healthy food options, a new ability to incorporate healthy food options into their daily fare and with a lot less extra weight!
This is one of the reasons that HCG dieters have high success rates in keeping off weight lost during the program. Many have been the victim of diets that left them see-sawing back and forth between high and low weights. This scenario leaves people that need to lose weight frustrated and angry. In comparison, actually succeeding in reaching goal weights within specified time frames on the homeopathic HCG diet offers self confidence and energy.
And successful dieters take their new found self confidence and their renewed energy levels into their new lifestyle. Their new appreciation of healthy foods is one other very useful benefit of the program that dieters are able to keep with them after the program is completed. They are used to eating healthy foods. They are used to choosing healthy foods from amongst the wide array of foods at a gathering or party. They know which foods on a menu are most likely to be a nutritious meal.
The list of foods approved for HCG use are very limited. Water is a mainstay. You drink it all day; basically, as much as you can. Dieters are also encouraged to drink as much tea as they’d like and even encouraged to replace breakfast with tea. They are offered a small list of fresh fruits and vegetables and told to incorporate only lean meats. Because the list is so exact and so limited dieters learn to use it well and use to depend upon it. They are given recipes and encouraged to learn them and enjoy them. The recipes give them the chance to learn healthy preparation methods and teach them that healthy foods can taste good and satisfy the need for food adequately.
HCG dieters are definitely required to adjust their eating habits. Some may not have ever been introduced to some of the approved foods on the list (and the list is VERY short). But due to the strict requirements they learn to eat them very quickly. Some may think they are going to quickly get sick of the foods that are allowed since they will be eating them so often while on the diet, but the reverse is usually true. Dieters tend to learn to eat them and depend upon them even after program completion.
And by learning to enjoy the foods on the homeopathic HCG program, dieters are incorporating healthy foods into their diet permanently. Homeopathic HCG dieting programs teach people to enjoy healthy foods. They teach people to use low fat, healthy cooking methods. They teach people to limit their portions and make healthy food choices. And those are just the side benefits. It also enables people to slough off the extra weight quickly and efficiently!

Hair Care Secrets
Posted on 03. Oct, 2009 by Cindy Myers.
Although our elders have taught us so many tips on hair care and hair management, we are apprehensive about following them because we think that they are old theories and many modern products have emerged and so it is better to try them. Sometimes by trial and error we realize that the so called magic of the new products are an illusion. It is always better to use nature’s gift for hair care. After all no body likes thinning hair and balding scalp and we all want that lustrous hair.
To maintain our hair we must first understand what type of hair we have. It can be dry or oily or both in patches. Then we can use hair care products accordingly. If we are already blessed with thick and naturally healthy hair there is no need to use hair care products unnecessarily just because your favorite TV channel advertises so. However maintenance of healthy hair is necessary and can be achieved by keeping scalp clean and using protein based conditioners and also following healthy eating habits and diets.
Sometimes to keep in touch with the joneses, we indulge in hair coloring and streaking. Some use hair irons to give their hair a straight look and some use chemicals to perm their hair. These hair treatments are harmful as they contain chemicals and destroy the hair roots in the long run. Once roots are destroyed re growth become very difficult and are almost impossible. Natural hair care salons warn of the dangers of these products and also encourage the use of natural herbal products.
An array of hair styling equipments has emerged. Lifestyles have changed and more women feel the need to socialize especially in the corporate sectors. Hence they are always looking for something different to do with the hair. Hair care products like hair dryers, curlers, hair irons and mousse and gel are constantly being used by men and women and this adds to the woes of hair loss.
Hair vitamins to promote hair growth are available in the markets. Hair loss and thinning should be treated from inside and not just superficially. Sometimes vitamin supplements may help prevent hair loss and promote hair growth.
To maintain regular cleaning and to keep hair healthy hair care products like shampoos are necessary to remove the dirt and sebum. Herbal shampoos and conditioners’ are available in the market and are considered safe as it contains natural products.

Chiropractic and Reducing Stress
Posted on 03. Oct, 2009 by Dr. Jason Fowler.
We certainly live in stressful times. It is not easy to assess whether our era is the most stressful, but we do have plenty of daily stress. The job, the home, the kids, the relatives, and the economy – all these stresses add up and yet we wonder why we have so many aches and pains.
So many ailments are stress-related. Americans are notoriously overweight. Overeating is a stress-coping mechanism.1 Headaches and backaches are often associated with increased stress. There is a strong correlation between high blood pressure and stress, ulcers and stress, and even cancer and stress.
What can we do? The external stresses in our lives are not going away. Our activity-filled lives are busy and complex – there’s always going to be stress. The key is to help avoid or ease the physical effects of stress. Interestingly, chiropractic treatment can be of great assistance in reducing the effects of stress on the body.
Stress causes muscles to tighten. This is an unconscious reaction. Tight muscles cause a cascade of further muscle tightening, shortening of muscles and ligaments, and a resulting decrease of mobility in joints, particularly shoulder joints, hip joints, and joints of the spine.2,3
This overall mechanical effect of stress has a number of additional consequences. All the extra unconscious muscle activity wastes precious nutritional resources and uses up energy needed for critical body functions. Lactic acid accumulates, irritating nerve endings and further increasing muscular tightness. And, most importantly, the losses in spinal joint mobility lead directly to increased levels of pain. This, of course, leads to more stress.
This vicious circle of stress, muscular tightness, and pain can be relieved and reduced by chiropractic treatment.4 Chiropractic therapy is specially designed to improve joint mobility of the spine and pelvis. This gentle, effective treatment gradually restores maximal spinal motion. Muscle tightness is alleviated, metabolic processes begin to return to normal, and nutrients become much more available to help maintain healthy functioning. Levels of pain are reduced, and we become better able to withstand the physical effects of stress.
Your chiropractor will explain the many benefits of treatment, and will provide instruction in stretching techniques and specific exercises that help maintain the positive results of therapy.
There will always be stress. We can learn how to reduce the physical effects of stress, and become stronger, healthier, and happier in the process. ——————————————————————————–
Take a Break! A few quick tips -
You can get up out of your chair or leave your workbench and walk over to an open window. Change your point-of-view. Breathe some fresh air. Go for a five-minute walk, either in the corridors of your building or out-of-doors. Call a friend and chat for five minutes. Close your eyes, clear your mind, and take an imaginary vacation – relaxing on a warm beach, deep-sea fishing on a beautiful yacht, or skiing down a gorgeous mountain.
These short, focused breaks will help reduce muscular tightness and physical stress, and can also help your brain recharge so you will be more creative and productive!

Losing Weight With Diet Meal Plans
Posted on 03. Oct, 2009 by Andrew Miller.
If you are looking to lose some weight, then you might want to look for diet meal plans. Why a diet? Well if you are familiar with the Pareto principle, then you would know that 80% of your results comes from 20% of you input. In the case of losing weight, we all know that exercise and diet are the 2 main elements.
If you apply Pareto principle, the main bulk of your ability to shed those pounds is based on your diet. Exercise helps but can be easily undone by improper eating. So what can you do if you are binging on food and just can’t seem to control yourself? Simple, you got to have prepared diet meal plans.
Now, I’m not saying you should go out and eat vegetables only. Nor should you try to torture yourself this way (unless you are a vegetarian or enjoying eating this way). What I’m saying is that your diet meal plans should have the proper amounts of calories and nutrients. For 7-day diet meal plans, the key element is that it should cycle your calories intake. This is because eating too little calories for several days will actually cause the body to starve. It will then create a response in the body to store the fats instead.
On the flip side, eating healthy but calories-rich food will not help you to lose weight. You’ll be maintaining your weight at the most. Next up, your diet meal plans should have a decent ratio of protein and fats.
The ratio of carbohydrates should be lower though, as that is what turns causes your body to release insulin and covert what you eat into fats more easily. Protein tends to promote weight loss if taken enough. Be careful not to overdose on the ratio though as it may cause stress on the kidneys.
So there you go, some reasons why you should place emphasis on your diet when losing weight and some quick tips that can serve as a guideline for natural and healthy weight loss.

Healthy Weight Loss Tips That Work
Posted on 03. Oct, 2009 by George Evers.
Plan to lose 10 pounds! By paying attention to the amount of food you eat, eliminating unnecessary sugar and fat from your foods and making sure you include absolutely delicious meals and snacks to keep your taste buds happy.
A not difficult balanced and flexible weight loss program is best. Warm up to focus on the first 10 pounds of weight loss and the rest will follow.
Most weight loss programs insist you keep track of every bit of food you eat or drink. Start by writing down everything you eat. No need to write down the calorie count but start not putting margarine or butter on toast, vegetables and sandwiches. Use less oil in food as well as cooking.
If you’re not currently using skim milk, reduce the level of fat content in the milk you use. For example, if you currently use two percent, use only one percent. If you insist on whole milk, try two percent. And drink tea.
Be certain to include legumes, peanut, cottage cheese, chicken, fish, eggs or yogurt. Try to cut back on your sugar treats to a few times a week max. Eat one or more meatless lunches and dinners each week.
Eat at least two servings of fresh fruit every day. Choose whatever type of fruit is in season. Instead of fruit juice for breakfast or snack, drink water. Add a slice of lemon or lime for zest. Include two servings of vegetables with lunch and dinner, for a total of at least four servings per day.
Eat a few servings of food using whole grains at each meal. Don’t eat in front of the TV. Studies show that you eat larger portions of foods and snacks watching TV.
Chew your calories. Don’t consume liquids replete with calories by drinking them. That means cutting out soda and high-calorie fruit juices and drinking tea or water instead. Plan ahead what you are going to eat. Last-minute planning tends to veer you off your diet.

With each passing year the use of herbicides, fungicides and chemical fertilizers increases wildly as a way to make more food for a growing world. The painful truth of this fact is that as the years go by the food we produce is becoming much less nutritious for us. A comparison drawn of food nutrition between the 1960’s and 70’s to the present day shows that overall food nutrition has been reduced by almost 25 to 50 percent in just those few years.
Making the problem worse is the method in which we pack our foods. For convenience and safety we subject our foods to elaborate chemical treatments including irradiation, chemical preservation, and heating. While these processes may increase the overall safety of our food they greatly and further lower the nutritional quality and health benefits of the produce. By the time the produce actually reaches the consumer it has been put though so many changes that the nutrition of the product is a fraction of what it once was!
Many individuals don’t realize that even simple things such as heating and cooking the foods you consume can kill their nutritional value. The Vitamin Code Mens Vitamins system is capable of providing your body with the most nutrition from food by keeping the food in its natural form, free from alteration or chemical interference. This way the body gets the most natural and healthy form of food intake as nature wanted.
